Discover Breckenridge: A Dreamy Winter Escape

Breckenridge, Colorado, is a dreamy winter wonderland that perfectly blends cozy cabin vibes with exciting mountain adventures. While I’m just now getting around to writing this (better late than never, right?), I couldn’t skip recapping this relaxing and snowy getaway with some of my favorite people. Whether you're looking to unwind, explore charming downtown spots, or hit the slopes, Breck in the winter has something magical for everyone.

Where We Stayed
We found the cutest little Airbnb nestled in a cozy community just off the main street of downtown Breckenridge. It had all the charm of a rustic cabin, but with the layout and comfort of a modern condo. Think: woodsy vibes, warm lighting, and big windows to watch the snowfall while sipping coffee in your PJs. It was the perfect home base—peaceful, private, and just steps from all the action downtown.
Things to Do

Soak in the Cabin Life
One of the best parts of the trip was honestly just hanging around the Airbnb. We had slow mornings, lounged in sweats, and watched snow gently fall outside the windows. It was pure winter bliss. The kind of calm that hits differently when you’re surrounded by snowy pines and stillness.
Explore Downtown Breckenridge
Every evening we ventured out into town for dinner, drinks, and a little bit of everything in between. Downtown Breck is adorable—think twinkling lights, snow-covered streets, and that small-town charm. We popped into different bars, browsed local shops, and even caught some live music. It felt festive and lively without being overwhelming, which made it all the more enjoyable.
Hot Springs
There are a few different hot springs to choose from within an hours drive from Breckridge. Some are manmade, some are natural, and some are indoors. We chose to go to Iron Mountain Hot Springs. Iron Mountain Hot Springs in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, is a serene riverside retreat featuring over 15 geothermal soaking pools with stunning views of the Colorado River and surrounding mountains. Each pool offers a different temperature, creating the perfect setting for relaxation after a day of adventure. With a peaceful atmosphere and natural beauty all around, it’s a must-visit for anyone exploring the Rockies. It was one of my favorite things that we did!
Snowboarding on the Slopes
Friday and Saturday were for the mountain! We spent one full day taking snowboarding lessons (major shoutout to the instructors who were so patient and helpful). If you’re new to snowboarding, I definitely recommend booking a full-day lesson—it makes such a difference. The next day was our "free ride" day... well, for some of us! I was so sore from the lessons that I had to sit this one out (lol #noshame), but Kelly and John absolutely crushed it. They went up and down the mountain multiple times like pros.
Après Vibes & Local Finds
Breck is full of cozy spots for après-ski drinks and snacks. Whether you're into craft cocktails, a good local brew, or a warm spiked cider, there’s no shortage of cozy corners to settle into post-snowboarding. We found a few gems right downtown with live music and super chill energy. The whole town feels like one big winter hangout spot.
