Epic Italy Travel Guide: Must-Visit Destinations and Tips

Hey there, fellow travelers! Grab your passports and buckle up because we're embarking on an epic journey through the stunning landscapes and rich culture of Italy. There is nothing better than creating unforgettable memories and checking things/places off of my bucket list.

Our adventure kicks off in style as we board our flight from Ft. Lauderdale to the enchanting city of Naples. With excitement bubbling in our veins, we eagerly anticipate the vibrant sights and sounds awaiting us on Italian soil.

The flight there felt like a lifetime – as we were eager to arrive. I don’t know about you, but I always struggle with stomach issues when traveling far distances. I am not sure if my body doesn’t handle the time change well or if I get so excited that I become anxious. Does anyone else struggle with this? I would love to learn some tips and tricks.

Fast forward 7 hours: Touching down in Naples, we're greeted by the warm Mediterranean breeze and the promise of endless possibilities. Our cozy Airbnb in the heart of the city awaits, and we waste no time in settling into our charming home away from home. The following day, we set sail for the picturesque island of Capri, where azure waters and breathtaking vistas await. With our Ferry ride booked in advance, it was easy to walk to the shore, hop on, and glide across the glittering sea to explore the island's hidden gems.

Visiting Capri was in my top 3 favorite parts of Italy. The island was so beautiful, the water was so blue, the people were so kind, and the shopping was out of this world. I caved in and bought my first designer bag. I got a cute beige colored Prada bag, and I am obsessed. We took a convertible taxi up to the highest point of Capri and explored the shops and restaurants up there. It is called “Monte Solaro” and you can see the entire island.

After a full day on the island of Capri, we are back on the mainland. We stopped at an Italian restaurant (which was delicious) before walking back to our Airbnb. We woke up the next morning and embarked on an unforgettable journey through history with a full-day tour of Sorrento and Pompeii. From the ancient ruins of Pompeii to the lemon-scented streets of Sorrento, each moment is a treasure waiting to be discovered. I will say that we did a guided tour of these locations and didn’t have enough time to explore each location fully. We used GetYourGuide for all of our guided tours/day trips throughout the entire trip.

As the sun set on our time in Naples, we started our journey to the coastal paradise of Positano. Nestled among colorful cliffside villas, Positano beckons with its romantic charm and laid-back elegance. With two blissful days to explore Positano at our leisure, we savor every moment, from strolls along the winding streets to indulgent feasts of fresh seafood overlooking the shimmering sea. During our time in Positano, it was unfortunately overcast, so we did not get the opportunity to visit any of the beach clubs or enjoy the water,

During our time in Positano, we of course had to do some damage shopping. I popped into CB by Kore (it is super famous on TikTok) and I shopped until I dropped. I bought a few makeup bags, a tank, a dress, and a tote. I also grabbed a gift for my mom. Everything in the store is made locally and by hand. It is owned by a mom-and-daughter duo. Adorable and the quality was amazing!

Next stop: Matera, where ancient caves and winding alleyways promise to transport us back in time. With two days to immerse ourselves in the city's rich history and vibrant culture, we eagerly dive into every corner of this town. My boyfriend’s last name is Matera, so it was extremely cool to be able to explore the ancient town that his family is originally from.

All aboard! We hop on a train to Rome, the Eternal City, where ancient wonders and modern marvels collide. From the iconic Colosseum to the awe-inspiring Vatican, we soak up the grandeur of Rome with guided tours and strolls through cobblestone streets.

Continuing our journey northward, we arrive in Florence, the birthplace of the Renaissance, where art, history, and romance intertwine. With a day of exploration ahead, we head out to enjoy a drive through the countryside of Florence and venture to Tuscany in the afternoon, indulging in scenic drives and wine tastings along the way. Florence and Tuscany were my next top two favorite locations in Italy. The energy, live music, and walkable markets and streets of Florence were unbeatable.

After a couple of days in Florence and Tuscany, we made our way to the tip-top of Italy: Milano.

Milan beckons with its cosmopolitan charm and sleek sophistication. From rooftop dinners overlooking the city skyline to day trips to Lake Como, we soak up every moment of our time in Italy's fashion capital.

Milano was breathtaking. The architecture was out of this world. And the shopping of course was insane. I lost myself in their Zara. It had the prettiest paintings on the entryway's walls and 3 levels of the cutest clothes. I also bought myself a new pair of Channel sunnies.

As our adventure draws to a close, we end our trip to Italy with hearts full of memories and suitcases packed with souvenirs. From Positano to Milan, our journey has been nothing short of magical—a whirlwind adventure through the heart and soul of Italy.
